NYX Round Lip Gloss “Soap Opera Queen” Swatches and Review

NYX is one of my favorite when it comes to drugstore brands. Unfortunately, they over priced in India, so I would advise to haul them from http://www.cherryculture.com

The Shade: A light lotus pink gloss with glitters.

The Texture: Gritty to some extent but yes, it is not irksome. The granules can hardly be felt. A non-sticky gloss, which feels light on lips.

The Lasting: Lasts easily for three hours without any meal in between and fades leaving the glitters behind, which I do not like.

The pigmentation: It is very light , sheer pink gloss and is not pigmented. It lends a light pink glossy shine to lips and is ideal for people with fair skin tones and non-pigmented lips.

Price: $ 1.99 on sale from Cherryculture.

Summary: I am not a fan of this gloss as it doesn’t complement my complexion. Otherwise, this is a decent lip gloss which is not sticky and would suit fair skin tones with aplomb. I would recommend this to college goers, who have pale skin. I use this as a top coat over Pink Matte lipsticks, if I need some shine.

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipgloss “Glisten up Pink” Swatch and Review

The latest launch of the drugstore giant Maybelline, these high shine glosses are quite a steal for the price, especially for gloss lovers. The shade I am reviewing is “Glisten up Pink”, which I received last week, for review.

The shade: A  lightest of the light of pinks , almost silvery pink with sliver glitters incorporated in it. A very pretty shade for my liking, but unfortunately, I cannot carry this off on my NC42 skin, without some effort. This would look very good on pale skin tones, NC 25 and below. But, this shade makes me look like a zombie 😛 , all by itself.

The pigmentation: Very much pigmented, one swipe is enough  and my lips acquire a peculiar hue of silver-grey-pink . The good news is for very light skinned damsels, do do try it 🙂 You shall love it.

The texture: Very smooth and not runny. It is non-sticky , kinda those kinds, which do not make your hair stick to your lips. Another gloss of this stature is the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss. It is pigmented, and the gloss adheres to the lip tissue without being sticky.

The lasting: Effortlessly without a meal for about four hours, pretty good for a gloss.

The packaging: Very nice and fuss free, with a silver cover. The wand also enables hassle free application.

The comprehensive aspects, as of now.

Pros:

  1. Very much pigmented
  2. Non-sticky and light
  3. Sticks to lips to last long enough
  4. Pretty shade for light and pale skin tones, NC25 and below
  5. Not runny or watery

Cons:

  1. The shade is too light for Indian olive skin tones and would wash them out.
  2. Otherwise,I cannot think of any

Price: INR 350, very cheap for a gloss with above average performance.

Summary: Very much pigmented, shiny, recommended . The particular shade is way to light for Indian skin tones, and hence might wash them out. The good news is for light skinned beauties, go for it and you shall adore it.

Product Score: 4/5

I have made quite an effort to wear this shade , the palest of the pale 🙂 . I have paired this with a berry colored blush and blue smokey eyes. I am NC42, but I am loving it and intend to wear it more often, as of now. I have applied it carefully with light hand, so that it doesn’t look layered up.

The top lip swatch is with the gloss and the bottom swatch is my natural lip color.

Product sent by PR for review and its a review as per my honest experience.

Lip Combo – Glossy Red Pout

I like to create various lip combos, to try and experiment with colors and textures and achieve a whole new look. I love red lipsticks and this is a look I created with my favorite lipstick Mac Ruby Woo.

Lip liner: Brown , I used Tips and Toes lipliner “Coffee brown”

Lipstick: Red, I used Mac “Ruby Woo”

Lip gloss: Sheer Brown , I used Maybelline watershine ” Choc Choc”

I lined my lips with a brown lip liner, this actually intensifies the red of “Ruby Woo”, then topped it with a single coat of the red lipstick, and finished off with a golden brown sheer gloss.

Swatches :

Coffee Brown, Ruby Woo, Choc Choc

Lip Combo – Pink Juicy Lips

So, I thought of pairing a light pink lip liner, with a bright magenta pink lipstick, topped with a light pink lip gloss . I used a pale pink liner from “P2” cosmetics, the lipstick is Colorbar “Oh my Magenta” reviewed here :http://celebratingfeminity.com/2012/04/27/colorbar-velvet-matte-lipstick-in-oh-my-magenta/ and the lip gloss is Revlon Colorburst “Iced Cofee”, reviewed here: http://celebratingfeminity.com/2012/08/22/revlon-colorburst-lipgloss-in-iced-coffee-swatch-and-review/

First , I applied the lip liner and used it to completely fill up my lips, Followed by a bright magenta pink lipstick on top and then added a light layer of a light pink lip gloss. I absolutely love this combination, do try this out.

Maybelline Watershine Liquid gloss in “Choc Choc”

Maybelline has this range of lip glosses which, apt to its nomenclature, does live up to the claim of being shiny in a watery way. The shade under review is “choc choc”, sounds to me like some smoothie in a cafe bar.

The color is caramel brown with a hint of gold somewhere, due to which the color ends up to be feminine. I usually do not like browns in my lip palette, but this is kinda different. So, I bought it without second thought. To describe it more aptly, it is a brown with a sheen of gold. As for the texture, its not heavy and feels light on lips, but yes your hair strands do get stuck on your lips with a wisp of air blowing over your face. This is one factor which really turns me away from glosses, and I usually tend to shy from them.

It comes in a small plastic bottle with a silver cap, the wand has a doe foot applicator which helps for a no fuss application. The packaging is hassle free and easy to carry.

The aroma is kind of funny, somewhat in between chocolate and plastic. Yes, I know its a weird description, but couldn’t describe it better. Anyways the smell becomes obsolete after sometime. I also own a clear gloss from this range which I use on top of liners or lipsticks. Both of them are highly moisturising and feels smooth on the lips.Staying power is moderate, lasts for maximum of three hours on me. But for the price and quality its okay. I do not have very high expectation from glosses lol :). On pigmentation it fares average and mostly would not show up on pigmented lips.

The gloss lends a juicy look to  the pout and can be used on top of lipsticks. I usually pair it with nudes and earthy colors.

Price: Rs.180 , I bought it about 1.5 yrs back

Summary: Its a decent lip gloss worth a buy. Its easy on pocket and ideal for college going students and teens. If you do not want to spend a fortune on glosses, this is it. I feel glosses appeal to teens the most and it looks way better than lipsticks on them. The color is universally flattering though it may not show up on pigmented lips.
