I happened to purchase this by mistake , instead of the scrub from this range, I picked this up and when I reached home, I realized my folly 🙂 . This face mask is a part of the lakme skin range suited to oily and acne prone skin.
The Look: A very smooth textured clay mask, that spreads evenly and smoothly all over the face.
The Smell: Very fresh smell, nothing pervasive.
My experience: Actually, this is a dud ! I did not like the way it feels on the skin. I have oily acne prone skin and it seems to clean well, but otherwise renders no effect on my complexion. It doesn’t reduce zits or black heads either, and reduces oiliness to some extent. I do not have good words for this product and feel, that I have wasted my money on it. Also, I feel it contains a lot of chemicals.
I do not recommend it !

Auravedic is a botanical brand thats specializes in making cosmetics devoid of harmful chemicals like SLS, Colors, Parabens etc. I am impressed with this brand and it seems to deliver what it claims. I have reviewed two other products from this brand HERE and HERE.
The look: A green colored gel
The texture: It comes in a jelly form and a little amount can be worked up into a lather and then applied to face.
The smell: Nothing that Irks.
My Take: The facewash cleanses the skin with aplomb and would suit oily to combination skin types. It gives a squeaky clean feeling to the skin and reduces the occurrence of acne over time. Also, the skin looks brighter and glowing after its use.
It might have a drying effect on normal to dry skins, and it is better they stay away from it. Also, depending on the skin, one might feel a urge to moisturize after its use. A very little amount. about the size of a pea drop works up a rich lather and cleanses very well. Over all, a thumbs up from me 🙂
Usage: Moisten face with water and gently massage a small amount of face wash in circular motions. Continue for approximately one minute and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. Incase of eye contact rinse immediately with plenty of water.
Test a small amount on clean skin on forearm 24 hours prior to use.
- cleans very well
- reduces oilyness
- reduces blemishes
- fights acne
- keeps skin clear and glowing
- brightens the skin after use
- It is drying on skin, so not meant for ladies having dry skin type. Also, a follow up moisturizer is essential.

Auravedic is a botanical brand thats specializes in making cosmetics devoid of harmful chemicals like SLS, Colors, Parabens etc. This lotion claims to fight environmental aggressions on skin, energizing it and thereby having an anti-aging effect on it. Also, it claims to be rich in anti-oxidants and boost skin’s moisture levels by replenishing oil and water simultaneously.
Usage: Gently massage on face and neck until completely absorbed. Use 2 -3 times daily.
Ingredients: Kokum Butter, Mango butter, beeswax, sunflower, aloevera, ylang ylang oil, orange oil, nutmeg oil, jojoba oil, olivem 1000, oilwax, purified water and phenoxyethanol.
Packaging: Comes in a plastic bottle with pump dispenser
My Take: I have combination-oily skin , and have been using this lotion in the morning and evening since past two months. It is an excellent hydrating agent, it replenishes the lost moisture in the skin effectively without clogging the pores. So, good news for people with oily skin who are on the look out for a good moisturizer. It does soothe and de-stress the skin. Also, it did not have any allergic reactions or cause any acne outburst on me.To summarize a good lotion for oily skin and it doesn’t break the skin out or clog the pores. I would not recommend it to dry skinned ladies though, normal skinned beauties can use is as a moisturizer during the summer season.
- hydrates and soothes
- Doesn’t break the skin out
- Didn’t have any allergic reactions
- No harmful chemicals
- Not sure about anti-aging effects
- Not suitable for dry skin

Face Was has become an indispensable part of our skincare regimen since their advent In the mid nineties. I was a school going girl then :). I am reviewing a face wash from Aloe Veda in this post.
The Product Look : A thick gel like consistency , which is not runny . The color is a pale rose pink.
The Smell : Very mild rosy smell, which is really soothing and calming. It is almost similar to the Pond’s White Colored “cold cream”Soap, we used to get in the nineties and the aroma made me nostalgic . I really loved that soap. It seems to have disappeared from the Indian market.
The packaging: It is packed safely, travel friendly with a flip open cap.
My take : Well it cleanses well and is good on my oily skin, removes all traces of grime perfectly. I do not have very sensitive skin, it did not break me out fortunately 🙂 . The job of cleansing was done well and the skin does feel soft after its use.
Now, the pain is that it contains dimethicone and SLES, both of which are not desired in a herbal product. I am not allergic to either of the ingredients and hence did not experience any side-effects, but those who are allergic to SLES and silicones need to exercise care before committing. Also, it shall suit people with oily-combination skin only.
The positive points :
- Cleans well
- Didn’t break me out
- It didn’t feel drying on my skin
- Available online
The negative points:
- Contains silicone
- Contains SLES ( sodium lauryl ether sulphate)
Price: INR 110 for 100 ml
Summary: Well a decent face wash that cleanses well 🙂 , but as it claims to be a herbal product and soap free, I did not expect the presence of silicones and sles . It did not have any adverse effects on my skin as I do not have sensitive skin, but people with sensitive skin need to be very careful.

Instaglow !! Yes it adds an instant glow to your face after its washed off, an after facial kind of glow which lasts you for about 5 to 6 hours 🙂 . Its not an exaggeration though, really it lights up my face :).
The packaging: Comes in a wide mouthed tub, which I like. I like the way, I can swipe my finger and apply it on my face. Though when the amount lessens, I have to dig it out.
The texture and color : Its has a typical multani mitti type of texture , a pasty mud like. Easy to apply and spread. Also, it dries up in 15 – 20 mins .
The aroma: Smells of sandalwood, combined with rose water with a touch of jasmine. Its strong on application but after some time it fades away. Some of you might not like it.
My Experience: I think you can make it out already 🙂 yes I am too happy with this. Lends me a facial like glow at home, without the pain, what more can a busy mother ask for?? It also keeps the skin oil free and perfectly cleans the skin. Also acts on inflammations of the skin like acne and rashes and makes it healthy. I am happy 🙂 . Though, dry skinned people might feel it makes their skin too dry, I recommend it for normal , combination and oily skin types. Also, one needs to moisturize after its usage.
Price: INR 295
Summary: Recommended!! Must buy ! True to claim, adds an instant glow. Best for oily acne prone skin, but it would be equally good for normal skin, dry skinned beauties might find it drying on them. It comes handy when you do not have much time before an event. The con is it can be drying on the face.

Just Herbs offers pure and natural ayurvedic products which are holistic and gentle on skin. I recently tried some of their products and found them decent. Today I am reviewing the Neem Orange facewash.
The look and texture : Its a semi runny gel which is orange-ish yellow in hue. Its easy to use and lathers well. Only a pea drop amount is required to clean the skin.
The Aroma: Smells of sandalwood oil which is bearable and not OTT.
The Packaging : Travel friendly, comes with a pump dispenser with a cover. No risk of it spilling around.
My experience: My skin type is oily-combination and this one cleans my skin really well. It removes all dirt and grime without stripping the skin of moisture. Only a liitle amount of the product is required, as it lathers generously and too much of it can strip the skin of its essential oils. My hubby has normal-dry skin and it had a drying effect on his skin, so I would recommend this for oily to combination skin type which is acne prone. With regular use my skin seems to be clean and clear, with almost no break outs. Just herbs has changed the packaging of the same, and also the quality of the contents. Overall its a nice product, I find it good.
Price: INR 245
Summary: Recommended ! Oily skin people might find their HG cleanser in it. Keeps the skin oil free and reduces break outs. The con is that , it might dry out normal to dry skins. Just Herbs should have mentioned it specifically on the bottle “For Oily-Combination skin“.
Also the “cleansing based” mentioned in the ingredients list raises questions! Would like to know what it exactly is .
Product Score : 3.5/5

Baking Soda or Sodium Bi-carbonate is a effective cleansing agent for skin. It cleans the skin of excess oil and reduces the occurrence of blemishes and acne. Recently, I had a few acne on my face and it effectively reduced its occurrence by keeping oiliness and dirt at bay.
How to use:
This is how I use it 🙂
Take a a teaspoon of baking soda and put a few drops of water to make a paste, taking care that its not too runny. Prior to this wash the face clean or clean it with cleansing milk or face wash. While the face is wet, apply the paste and leave on for about two three minutes and then wash off by gently rubbing the face. Its abrasive in nature, so people with sensitive skin should try it out carefully. Also if you have fresh acne on face , then just apply it and wash off, do not rub it.
It would make the skin squeaky clean and matte. Ideal for oily skinned people. Dry skin people better avoid it. I advice this to be done twice a week. Excessive use of baking soda strips the skin of essential oils.
